To provide repair, maintenance and vehicle inspection services to ensure the councils vehicles and plant machinery comply with
all statutory obligations.
To undertake repair, maintenance and inspection work for vehicles, plant and equipment on behalf of Carmarthenshire County
Council, to ensure compliance with all statutory obligations and the preventative maintenance programmes relative to the use of
each asset.
Promote and encourage a positive, enthusiastic team spirit, focused to meeting prompt turnaround times for maintenance unit.
Create an environment where genuine co-operation and responsiveness to our customer’s demands through teamwork.
Provide technical and mechanical support to ensure maintenance times are minimised and the plant and vehicle fleet meets the
required standards of safety and compliance with the terms of our Operators Licence including covering for colleagues where the
need arises.
Ensure you comply with the requirements of Health and Safety legislation at all times both onsite and offsite.
Complete workshop job records and associated administrative procedures, including the identification of accident damage and
neglect, to ensure compliance with legislation and they are completed on time to facilitate the production of timely management
information.
Operate a range of specialised tools and diagnostic equipment, interpreting information to effect speedy repairs.
Mentor Apprentice Vehicle Technicians when undertaking vehicle repairs.
Ensure your work area in and around the maintenance workshop is kept in good order to comply with all aspects of Health and
Safety Law.
Provide stand by support as and when needed on a rota basis to ensure our customers’ vehicles, plant and equipment are on the
road when required and downtime is kept to a minimum.
Work in adverse weather conditions, confined spaces and other hazardous environments.
Ensure traffic management controls are in place when attending vehicles in need of repair at the roadside.
Control the safety of Council drivers and their passengers when attending roadside breakdowns.
Carry out any reasonable work related request given by a Line Manager within the Department.
