Under the supervision of a Principal EHO / Principal TSO / Public Protection Technical Support Supervisor to assist in dealing with appropriate Public Protection aspects of food safety and hygiene, port health, health & safety at work, environmental protection, housing standards, communicable disease control, trading standards, animal welfare, licensing, community safety and other relevant Public Protection administrative and technical support matters.
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including English.
Good administration, IT and communication skills; an inquisitive mind and able to demonstrate initiative.
Depending on the nature of the work being carried out, this can necessitate the post holder working outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends, for which the equivalent time off in lieu will be given.
Essential - Experience of dealing with people using a broad range of communication methods
Essential - Demonstrate experience of using databases and a variety of MS IT packages
Essential - Experience of dealing with members of the public and explaining requirements
Desirable - Familiarity with the Newport area
Desirable - Experience of Environmental Health and Trading Standards work
